Good Ol’ Mr. Whipple…

by karen orlowski

A professor of mine recommended a book to me written by Luke Sullivan called, Hey, Mr. Whipple, Squeeze This. He recommended this book to me because I aspire to be a part of advertising someday, and this book has been a smashing hit of a recommendation so far. Not even half way through the book, and already I have SIX pages of quotes saved on my Kindle. I’m a quote person, but I mean, SIX pages is still a lot. Snaps to Mr. Sullivan!

Don’t squeeze the Charmin!

Quotes I will base my career off of:

1. “But you’ve got to say it in such a way that people will feel it in their gut. Because if they don’t feel it, nothing will happen.”

2. “The more intellectual you grow, the more you lose the great intuitive skills that really touch and move people.”

3. “Advertising is what happens on TV when people go to the bathroom.”

4. “Somewhere between these two places, however, is where you want to be–a balance between healthy skepticism of your reason for living and a solar confidence in your ability to come up with a fantastic idea every time you sit down to work.”

5. “Find an adjective and stick to it.”
